Ruben Campos


Ruben Campos is currently the Mexican American Paratroopers Association Commander.

  A Tucson native Rueben  Joined the army on July 30, 1948. He went to basic training at Fort Ord, CA, with the "G" Company 8th Infantry 4th Division. He was assigned to the 11th Airborne Division and was staitioned in Sapporo Japan, where he qualified as parachutist. He returned to the U.S. with the 11th Airborne and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, and then went to Fort Meade to train ROTC.

  When the Korean War began, he shipped to Korea with the 187th R.C.T. He made two jumps and was wounded on his second jump. He was taken to a M.A.S.H. hospital unit in Japan and discharged May 11, 1952.
