Francisco D. Ramirez “Pancho”
Pancho was drafted into the Armed Forces in 1941 at the start of the Second World War. He was inducted at San Pedro, California -- at Fort McArthur as it was known as at that time.
He went to Fort Dix in New Jersey to learn to become as morse code operator.
At the start of the war the “Army Air Corps” was in existence, later it was changed to the Air Force Branch of the Armed Forces. After his training he became a morse code operator, and later an instructor.
In 1945 Pancho was transferred to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. He met his future wife at the “El Charro Resturant” and got married at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They lived in the Menlo Park Barrio, where they still reside.
His tours of service were in Europe, the Far-east, and in Central America.
